About the Property
This funky little cottage forms part of a corner of the rear stable block at a beautiful Cortijo in Tarifa. Decorated in fabulous antique finds, it oozes style and character. There is a kitchen so the cottage is fully self catered, with indoor and outdoor dining. The sitting room enjoys a wood burning stove, which heats the house up beautifully in cooler months. Ideal for a couple looking to get away from it all in the countryside but unwilling to sacrifice on their creature comforts.
The cottage opens onto a bougainvillea-filled stable courtyard. It has a bathroom with shower and a bedroom with a standard sized double bed in the tower above.
The cottage can be found at Cortijo Aguilon, a colonial gem; ten minutes’ drive from Tarifa’s famous beaches. It enjoys the shared use of tennis court, stunning mature gardens, spectacular unspoiled views and streams on three sides.
The avenue of forty palms leading up to the property and electric gate keeps Cortijo Aguilon private and safe, enabling you to leave all your beach kit / kite and windsurfing equipment in the car overnight so you are able to jump in the car and drive 10 minutes to the beach without having to load and unload. The property enjoys mature vegetation with tropical gardens, cactuses, orange and lemon groves – Mediterranean bliss…

I would recommend a car that is slightly higher off the ground, such as a Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner something of this kind or even just the simple Fiat Panda. Family estate cars can sometimes be very low to the ground and I would definitely never rent a sports car they do not suit the Tarifa roads.

I have stayed at this lovely place several times over the past 10 or so years. It’s a perfect destination for beach and relaxation but close to many fun day trips as well. Over the years the beach has gotten very crowded with wind surfers but there are beaches not far from the villa that are mostly swimmers and sunbathers. The Villa itself is just perfect. The owners are lovely, the cook is amazing and the rooms are all beautiful. There is a lovely pool, horses, tennis and the town of Tarifa is a 10 minute drive and full of fun bars and restaurants but you may never want to leave the villa.
